The function of the Business Development Manager is to maintain and grow existing accounts and to identify and develop new business leads. The incumbent must have a positive attitude, must be able to work independently and must have excellent communication skills. The incumbent is to ensure that all duties assigned are completed within the required time frame and are as comprehensive as possible. Reporting to: Channel Manager / Managing Director

Key Performance Areas:

  • A full understanding of market trends and requirements
  • Responsible to maintain and grow existing accounts
  • Responsible to identify and develop new business
  • The ability to organise and hold various training sessions for products and applications
  • Responsible to the support national and international distribution channels
  • Responsible to represent the business through various engagement strategies
  • Analyze and provide feedback on buying patterns of customers in a geographical area in order to meet target objectives
  • Provide ideas to increase sales within your area of responsibility
  • Build and sustain great customer service levels and business relationships in support of business objectives
  • Responsible to support marketing in creating all relevant campaigns Campaigns


  • Minimum of 3-5 years sales experience in (IT) B2B distribution environment
  • Point of sale experience in a distribution or similar environment preferred
  • Experienced in prospecting via cold calling and networking
  • Must be able to hunt for new prospective customers
  • Target driven must have the ability to set monthly sales and new client targets.
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Update leads and deals regularly on an internal sales system
  • General interest in technology and innovation
  • Drivers license and own vehicle is a must

In addition to the normal duties expected of you in the capacity of Business Development Manager, you will be expected to carry out any other reasonable instruction within your ability, and which can reasonably be expected from you in your role as the Business Development Manager for Tactile Technologies in Gauteng.
