Just a few years ago, buying a ticket to see a movie at any of South Africa’s big-name movie houses involved waiting in line to be assisted by a customer service representative. During peak hours, this line could snake its way for what seems like kilometers around the lobby before you’re able to purchase your ticket.
Then, you’ve got to make a mad dash for the popcorn queue (because a movie without popcorn is like a beach without sand). Inevitably, you end up missing the first 10 minutes of the show, unless you arrived early to accommodate for the wait times, which, with kids in tow, isn’t always possible.
Quick, Convenient, Queue-Free Ticket Purchasing Touch Screen Monitors
This is where Tactile Technologies enters into the equation and it’s through two exciting projects we engaged in with Ster-Kinekor and Nu Metro that we endeavoured to abolish the ticket queue at all movie houses across the country. Our freestanding touch screen monitors providing movie house customers with the ability to view all films (both current and upcoming), their synopses (what they’re about), as well as their show times.
Once you have decided on a movie and a time, you select the desired options, including whether you’d like to see it in 2D/3D (depending on the options available at the cinemas) and seating and then use your credit card to pay at the terminal. You can even swipe your loyalty card to continue to reap the benefits of your specific membership program.
Once you’ve completed all the steps, the touch screen monitor prints out your ticket and you’re free to go buy popcorn and make it to your movie with time to spare.
No More Queues At The Movies!
The benefits of the freestanding touch screen monitors at most Ster-Kinekor and Nu Metro cinemas are obvious: they negate the need to wait in line to purchase your tickets and they’re convenient to use. The software we’ve installed on them also makes it extremely easy to follow the steps to purchase, regardless of how computer illiterate you may be.
These touch screen monitors are now ubiquitous in movie cinemas around the country, so the next time you head out to see a film, make sure you give one of them a try!
