Tactile Technologies, an organisation synonymous with touch screen technology and the creation of applications involving this type of hardware, today announced that it has established a partnership with MiTAC, a Taiwanese ICT company.
“This partnership with MiTAC was established as a result of our quest for more value products for the South African market,” commented Mauro Mercuri, Group Director of Tactile Technologies. “MiTAC was a natural choice for us as we already had a close relationship with them going back over several years.”
“We will be introducing their range of professional tablets,” continued Mercuri. “This consists of 5.8″, 7″ or 10″ tablets that are designed for professional use and are available in a high specification or a light specification. They are meant for use in a variety of applications whether it is for retail, logistics, process automation, or even light industrial applications. Functionality-wise these products offer dual core CPUs, NFC, GPS, bar-code reading, a camera, high IP ratings and in-vehicle support.”
“All three formats are well priced and are a solution for many companies that due to budget reasons, and also not helped by the weakened rand, are having to go for consumer product platforms with all the risks and downsides attached to those,” concluded Mercuri. “We believe the MiTAC range is the only professional range of tablets that is well enough priced to fit into SA’s current roadmaps.
